To make this artwork I drew it with pencil. I was not going to color it in with colors but then thought it was a good idea. I usually do not color because I ruin the picture but I wanted to try and make it look decent. My original picture was instead of color I used shading to add in different shades of the pencil. For my final copy I used colored pencils to add color. I used oranges, reds, and browns to make different shades of colors on the animal. | This is the original idea that started this artwork. I learned how to shade in colors while doing this. I also learned that when you blend colors together and use the right ones (Complimentary Colors) that you can get the color black instead of just using the actual color black. | This is what is happening right now with the picture | In this artwork I used the element of art Value the most. I used this element when shading in different colors for the pandas body and adding more to make the colors look more realistic. I used black for the legs and shaded in the top of them lighter so it looks like the color black is fading into the body and not just black legs and a orange body but it is all blended together. The feet of the panda are blended with the body to make it look like the color of the fur doesn't just end and that it blended together. The color of the fur near the neck gets dark to make it look like it is fitted to the log it and not just a strait neck it is resting on the log. |

What I am working on is a water color type paper. It is a lot like water color but instead of using paint I use colored wrapping paper. I put the colored wrapping paper on the piece of paper and I take a camel haired paint brush to spread water all over the colored wrapping paper. By doing this the dye on the paper looks like water color but in a sense where it almost looks like all the colors blend together.
All my other artworks were more like test papers. I was trying different ways to use paint and different ways I could make cool and unique backgrounds. Instead of just using water color I wanted to make something different and put a twist on it. Which I did with the water color picture above.
I came across Amy Ringholz artwork by the bright colors and the animals. Her artwork inspires me. Each painting has a message behind it, the bear represents bravery. The pictures of the animals have a certain deepness to them that is very interesting. She uses the element Lines in every painting. The lines in her pictures are all different. There is a wide variety of lines in her pictures. They include bold, suttle, curvy, thick, thin, etc. Amy comes from a rich family history of artists. So it's just natural for her to be very good at art and have a passion for it. Her artwork is mainly water color. She has a passion for drawing animals. She says, "You can see their souls through their eyes." Amy hopes by being able to to see human like features in the animals she paints people will learn to respect the animals.
